Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarships

Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation provides scholarships to both students from Germany and foreign students studying for either Bachelor or Postgraduate coursework at any German University. The foundation aim to fund students who have limited financial opportunities or who come from families with a migration background. This is to enable this students to fully pursue their study and as well assist students for Master or PhD program.

Level of Study: Bachelor, Master and PhD Program.

Targeted Country: Students from any country and of German nationality.

Benefits

Successful applicant will receive up to €744 per month as well as a monthly flat-rate study fee of €300. Also, depending on the applicant financial condition, may also receive a contribution to health insurance of up to €71 and long-term care insurance of up to €15 per month.

In addition to the above, the Foundation supports stays abroad during the funding period – through subsidies for travel expenses, tuition fees and international health insurance, especially for study or research stays, language courses and internships of up to 12 months.

Requirement for Basic Funding

  • Confirmation of study place or certificate of enrollment at a state or state-recognized German (technical) university for the course for which you want to be funded
  • Foreign applicants must also prove sufficient German language skills
  • First-year students (Germans and foreign students with education) apply before or at the beginning of the first semester and need two expert opinions from teachers for the further application process

Requirement for PhD Funding

  • Unconditional notification of admission to the doctoral scholarship
  • Foreign applicants must also prove sufficient German language skills

Application Procedure

Applicant are to fill an online application form for the scholarship. The online application form is to be found at the official scholarship website (link provided below). Also, additional documents as requested by the foundation are to sent by e-mail. These are to be found in detail via the foundation website.

Application Deadline: The deadline varies for each degree program –

Basic funding for Germans, foreign students with education and refugees: October 31,2020 for winter semester and April 30,2021 for summer semester.

Basic funding for Germans, Educational residents and refugees : Master’s students deadlines are October 31, 2020 for winter semester and April 30th, 2021 for summer semester. PhD candidates can apply at any time.
